Spring Fashion For The Style Wise

There's something surprising about getting older.

I never thought I would feel so comfortable in my own skin. I rarely doubt much. And putting an outfit together is something that I worry the least about. I feel style wise.

Sure I have moments now and then where I doubt my decisions but they are rare as I grow older. Mostly because if something isn't working I let it go and put it behind me. I ain't got no time to think about the past. Ha Ha! I just want to be my best going forward.

This outfit reminded me that clothing is the most simple thing in life and should represent who you are as an individual. It shouldn't be something we worry about, only enjoy if that is your thing. Do what you want to do, say what you want to say and be who you want to be. That is the wisdom that comes with age and living life.

Just a heads up Gang. I was in target and they are now selling Baublebar jewelry. This jewelry is so fun for spring and summer and I really stocked up. The first multi colored pair are my favorites. I can't tell you how cute they are and the other pair I think I got in every color they had. These earrings are not high end but they don't break the bank and can really complete a fun summer look. I also linked some fun clutches that are perfect year after year.

Be who YOu are in everything you do.

Listen to your mood and look in your closet and let your instinct guide you and I think you will always feel good about your decision.

This outfit made me feel happy. The red in the top just looked like the promise of spring. I loved that the buttons are red and the sleeves are 3/4 length with a slit in the cuff. These little details made it special.  And pairing it with white jeans seemed natural. The Marc Fisher wedges added to the festive vibe this outfit gave me. My wicker clutch now going into season three was the right bag for this look along with my big hoop earrings.

I'm linking crazy cute options for you to create your own look. I'm wearing 7 for all mankind jeans and I linked exact pair but I DIY my raw hem.

Thanks for stopping by dear readers!

Peace!

Maxi Season

It's Maxi Season

Spring and summer are the times of year when I wear a maxi dress the most.

I was going through pictures and brutally deleting those that were awful. When I ran across these I knew I wanted to use them even though the lighting is not the best. Because this dress is crazy cute and comfortable.

It's made of the nicest quality knit, hangs perfectly and the colors are very vibrant and rich. It has slits on both sides up to the knee and is shorter so I can wear flat sandals with it making it perfect for hanging out in the summer.

You won't beleve where I got it

I got it last summer at Costco. That's right, they have cute clothes there too! And I went yesterday to see if they had them again and they do. I picked up another one in a beautiful Merlot color. Score!

I always try to dress for dinner, even when we eat at home. I make nice meals and love to celebrate the day in style. This dress has been perfect for dinners here in Arizona.

If you can't get to a Costco, here are some similar dresses, flip flops and bags for creating your own look! My flip flops are leather and I love to have a few in black and nude for casual outfits.

As always gang, thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

How I Wear Greenery (Pantone Color Of The Year)

MY OUTFIT

Green is probably my second favorite color after orange. I find it a relaxing color and love all shades of green. However, I don't have a lot of green in my closet for some reason. I never seem to run across clothes that are green in the stores. The one exception is what I call olive green. I have several items in various shades of this color. I think it is almost a neutral and goes well with most other colors.

I was so happy when I learned that the Pantone color of the year is Greenery. This meant I would be seeing more of it on the racks.

Here's a description of Greenery from the Pantone website . . .

"A refreshing and revitalizing shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world.
A life-affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality." (From: https://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year-2017)

In this outfit I am wearing a cardigan in a shade of greenery that is a few seasons old and gets a lot of use. I am wearing it with a cream camisole, a pair of skinny jeans and a pair of booties that are also a shade of Greenery. I carried a clutch that had the same shades as my camisole. For jewelry I wore one of my oldest and most favorite necklaces. You will see this necklace in more pictures of mine than any other jewelry I own. This was a simple casual everyday outfit that I enjoy often.

How I Wear An Off Shoulder Top In Cooler Weather

MY OUTFIT

We had a cold snap last week with highs mostly in the mid 40s. This week is supposed to be closer to normal with highs in the mid 60s. Right where I like it the most. It is really time for cozy sweaters, comfy jeans and beautiful scarves. But I don't plan to put away all my summer trends for the winter. Take the ever so popular off shoulder or cold shoulder tops. Should we put them all in winter storage? Not me, I'm going to continue wearing mine but with a twist. I'll be adding a cozy scarf to add fall colors and extra warmth when needed. Imagine sitting by a fire in the evening with a glass of wine looking stylish and comfortable all through fall and winter.

I have several of these over-sized cold shoulder sweaters that will be on repeat during the cold weather seasons. I usually wear lace t-back braletts with them because they are pretty and add another level of comfort. In this outfit I am wearing flared jeans that have a nice stretch. There is no snow on the ground so I'm wearing a pair of open toed booties that are an olive color similar to my sweater and of course I'm wearing one of my favorite scarves full of neutral tones and fall colors. I really like pattern mixing like here with the plaid scarf and the leopard bag. Making sure they are in the same color family appeals more to my eyes.

LETTING GO

When I first started blogging several years ago I was only doing it for a creative outlet. A little hobby. I really did't care that much if anyone read it or not. And for the most part, not too many did. But as time went by I started thinking I would like to turn my blog into a business and started learning how to grow an audience and make my blog more professional. I loved the design part of blogging and was starting to learn that a few people kind of liked what I was doing.

Fast forward to today, and I am getting on average 14, 000 views per month on my blog. Relative to other blogs that can be considered a lot or not. I use social media to help people find my blog and spend a great deal of time promoting and engaging with other bloggers. I joined a few like minded groups on Facebook and have worked my self silly with it all. I have become more worried about growing my blog than taking pleasure in the process. I am forgetting the joy I find in other things in my life and am feeling way too much stress and unmotivated in general.

So I decided this weekend to let some of it go. I am going to go back to doing what I love, and that is creating stylish looks that hopefully inspire others to play in their closets more often if that is something they enjoy. No more sitting in bed at night and in the mornings with my nose in my phone on IG and other social media worrying that I will make someone mad if I don't like their post, comment on it or their blog. No more feeling like I can't keep up with the social media rat race. I'll do my blog posts, let everyone know that it is up via a quick post on social media and then I go back to life. My real job, my family, cooking, hiking and being in the present.

I'll still be updating my Boutique and Chatter page, sharing finds that I think you will like. I like that part of my blog also. I don't make money from doing it for the most part but I get a kick when someone finds it useful. So keep checking it out if you're interested.

I love helping others design their blog and only work with two or three clients at a time and I find that fun also. I won't be giving up that part of my blog either. So if you ever want to start a hobby blog I'll always be happy to share what I know. Then if you want my help we can go from there. You can see more detail on my Blog Services tab.

How I Style Over The Knee Boots For Fall Fashion

My OUTFIT

A few of years ago when Over the Knee Boots starting popping up everywhere, I was sure I was too old to wear them. I let society whisper in my ear, no no, you can't wear those, you'll look like you're trying to be younger. But as with so many whispers in my ear, I ignored it and showed my husband a beautiful pair of Louise et Cie OTK boots that I loved and he got them for me for Christmas! I was so excited and the minute I put them on I loved them. The heck with what anyone thought! Over the next couple of years I added two more pairs. They are so versatile and absolutely a fun addition to my wardrobe!

For this outfit I wore the second pair of OTK boots purchased, they are a rich caramel color and they can be scrunched down to below the knee for variation.  Right now I prefer over the knee. I wore them with a pair of pants in a copper color. My top is a fun cold shoulder in a blue that reminds me of stormy nights.  I wore a layered necklace and a choker and carried a tote bag. All I can say is, I love this outfit. The top made it comfortable for the still warm days we were having but I got to style the boots so it is a perfect transitional outfit.

THERE'S SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS

As I write this post I am enjoying a day in the mid 60s and sunny with a little wind. But the wind is blowing in an early winter storm. For the next week, it is only going to be in the mid 40s and Tuesday through Thursday the forecast predicts snow! It's crazy and way too early for snow. A first in my experience.  I think the next week it is supposed to warm up to the 50s and 60s so hopefully our fall isn't over. Meanwhile my husband has been stacking wood for all our fire places. Stay tuned for weather updates! Ha Ha!

How I Wear Kick Flares

THE OUTFIT

For a while now, I have admired women wearing kick flare jeans. I first noticed this style last fall and winter and although I thought they looked amazing on the women wearing them, I really didn't think I could pull them off. But after pontificating the issue for almost a year and then running across an extremely fashionable pair I decided to take the risk. After all, its only fashion!

I wore mine with a mustard camisole, a cream duster and cream heels.  A belt and my cream tote completed this outfit. I must say I was feeling rather fashionable! I am sure I will get the old, eeewwwww. But I love them! I am already dreaming of more ways to style them. They are fun and I believe a statement piece. Plus, this pair coming from Marshall's didn't break the bank!

THE FIRES OF HELL

I feel like I have been living under a dark cloud for a few weeks now. Oh wait, I have! There are more fires in this part of the country than I can count and they are placed all around us within the state and by the states surrounding us. Most days the smoke clouds our skies so it looks like it will rain any minute but it is just smoke. We can't really go outside for long because it burns our eyes and throats. We of course have air quality warnings.

To some extent this is normal for Idaho this time of the year. We have so much forest in the state and it gets dry so anything can start a fire. But the last couple of years and this year especially it has been significantly worse. Add to that, our temperatures have been way above average and it is quite unpleasant. But nothing as bad as what Texas has endured so I am grateful. I pray for those who suffer due the floods and fires this summer.

Casual Friday

The outfit

I'll admit that everyday is casual day for me now that I no longer have to go in to an office each day. I sometimes miss that part of working at the University. But most of the time I am grateful for my peaceful, slow pace lifestyle. This outfit is about the best of the best in my casual repertoire. Relaxed jeans, soft black shirt, tan mules that slide off easily and a nice bag on standby if I need to run an errand. In this post I am showing my outfit with a couple of different bags. I'm wearing a new layered necklace that I love and new really big hoop earrings. Both will be on heavy rotation this fall I am thinking.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

Red Floral Bells & Social Media Warning

THE OUTFIT

I'm still rotating fun clothing items from spring and summer. I am going to hate putting away some of my tops for the winter. But at least I know they will be there next spring. The top has a lot of fun detail with crocheted strips and bell sleeves. What really attracted me was the tiny red flowers. They seemed so feminine and old fashioned.  I wore white cropped jeans, tan mules with the rope heel detail and carried one of my favorite Tory Burch bags. Another comfortable and pretty outfit put together.

WARNING

This past week I learned a few things that I wanted to share. I am not an expert but I will tell you what I know. An Instafriend of mine who had over 10,000 followers and a lovely gallery was hacked a couple of weeks ago. Her account was taken over and they were trying to get money from her. She and many others tried to contact Facebook who owns Instagram and they shut her account down and refused to even speak to her in any form. She was left with no alternative but to start over with a new account.

This is why I could care less about Instagram, it is not mine, Facebook is in control and they could care less about any individual. I use Instagram as a driver to my blog which is my true passion/hobby. With that being said, I have put a lot of work in the my Instagram account and don't want to have it hacked. Here is what I have been told to do to protect it.

1. Make sure to have Two-Factor Authentication set up. You can find it it your settings.

2. Create a second account where you post everything so if you lose one account you will still have all your pictures. This one seems like a lot of work but I thought I would do it anyway. I don't promote it or work at it in anyway other than add the same photo as my main account. It just takes a minute. Plus it is a fun little experiment to see how things go with no effort. So far nothing but trolls are visiting it.

3.  Google has a security system that you can implement also. Go to your account and click on Sign-in and security and then on 2-step verification and follow instructions.

4. I am sure there are other systems for other social media and as I learn more I will share.

Summer Nautical

THE OUTFIT

I wish you could see this top up close. It is a tunic tank in a deep navy color with little anchors all over. So adorable! I added white skinny jeans, navy wedge sandals, a white denim jacket and a navy fringed clutch. As usual I wore my big hoop earrings, and layered my delicate necklaces. Everything is old but you can definitely recreate this outfit if you want a nautical look. Start with cropped white pants, a navy or red top, a fun denim or canvas jacket and you are good to go!

RECENT Outing

Last Saturday I met up with a gal pal and we participated in a local walk/run for charity. It was called the Huckleberry Trot and it was held in a tiny town down the road from us. It was a beautiful morning in the mountains and afterwards we went to lunch at Bistro 45 for an amazing spinach salad. We had such a good time catching up and talked so much it almost wore me out more than the walk. Ha Ha! We got to eat outside in the most lovely environment. If you are ever in McCall I would recommend eating at the Bistro 45.

I was worried about being outside exercising because for the past couple of weeks the Northwest has been enveloped in smoke due to fires all over the place. It has been so bad that I only go out early in the day and I keep the house closed up all day and night. Where we live it stays so cool we have never had to use air conditioning and we still haven't needed it this year. My house stays cool enough that I usually wear a cardigan all day while inside. I try to do my hikes or runs early in the day but many days by the end of the day, I am dizzy and light headed from the smoke. I think we are about out of it for this year (this is an annual thing) so I am looking forward to our fresh pine scented air again soon.

My gal pal and I decided to plan an outing. We live about a four hour drive from Sun Valley, ID and we have heard there is an amazing consignment store there so we are going on a day trip soon. We are both excited!

Too Much Goodness

THE OUTFIT

This outfit makes me smile. In a way it is kind of hokey but it also really reflects my personal style. I am totally comfortable in this outfit. The jeans are old. The top was recently bought on sale as were the fun platform shoes. My bag is so fun for summer. I have had this hat for a long time but I changed out the scarf in it to a red bandanna. It all looked so country girl. My new bar necklace has special meaning. It has Coco engraved on it with a little crystal chip. Coco is what my grandson calls me. He melts my heart every time he says, Coco.
