Boyfriend Jeans

Got Casual?

The Scoop

I went shopping the other day to see what was new in the shops and find inspiration for the blog. I was inspired for a few minutes but still struggling with feeling any fashion vibes. I keep trying so hang in there with me and maybe I’ll snap out of it.

I went to a shop that I have been buying clothes from since I was in my twenties. It’s called Maurices. It is close enough to walk to from our condo and never overloaded with clothes so you don’t feel overwhelmed. It was just the place for me to relax, try on some things, chat with the nice staff and find inspiration.

I saw this denim shirt and although I have several, it was fresh, a fabulous color and perfect fit. Then I came across button fly boyfriend jeans that are “fall right off loose” and I thought they made a great couple, so Bingo, they came home with me. They were both 50% off too.

Once I got back to the condo, I pulled another pair of boyfriend jeans out of my closet and put together a few outfits with different tops and shoes.

Look One

These are the jeans and shirt from Maurices. I wore my orange pumps and carried my leopard clutch. I wore a statement necklace that if you read my blog much you know I have had for probably 20 years. It is a one of a kind and sort of my signature necklace.

Look Two

I am wearing a shirt tied at the waste and a pair of Marc Fisher wedges in a deep blue color. Again with the leopard bag. I wore my bar necklace that has my grandma name, “Coco” and silver earrings.

Look Three

These boyfriend jeans are several years old from “Nasty Gal.” I remember when I ordered them I was embarrassed to pick them up at the post office due to the name. But they are fabulous jeans! I wore a coral striped shirt, carried my Ark bag and wore another pair of Marc Fisher wedges. For jewelry I wore a Chico’s necklace that I have had a long time.

Overalls

Fun with

overalls

The Scoop

Bare with me while I have a little fun with fashion. I have been wanting a pair of overalls now for about a year. I used to wear them and found them to be comfortable. I wanted a pair that was fit (not too baggy), had something distinctive about them and were cropped. This pair met all my requirements. I wish I would have sized down one more size but these will be fine. I can see so many ways to style them all through spring and summer.

My Look

This is a look I would wear hanging around the house, or exploring festivals or flea markets. I wore my overalls with a white tee and styled them with two different shoes, a pair of casual heels and a pair of platform sneakers. I carried my orange cross body bag to finish the look.

And don’t forget a cute pair of shoes!

Styling My Boot Cut Jeans

Boot cut jeans

never go out of style in my opinion. And they look good on everyone. Also they are the easiest to dress up.

the scoop

As we all know, trends in jeans come and go. A style will be strong for years and then finally fade away. The one style that I have noticed never goes out of style is the boot cut. The pair I am wearing in this post is a few years old and just as fresh looking now as when I got them. They are from White House Black Market @WHBM . I loved them so much I got two pairs and wish I had bought more because I think they will wear out before they go out of style. I was able to find the exact ones to link up below. I may order them for a backup! Ha ha!

my look

When I want to look a little dressed up but still wear jeans, these are my go-to jeans. When styling this outfit I wanted a dressier top so I wore this light weight cream colored one. It is a tunic and long so I used my trick of tucking it into my belt loop. It defines my waist a little and controls all the extra fabric. I wore a pair of navy heels and carried a leopard bag. For jewelry I layered a couple of delicate necklaces, added hoop earrings and a watch. I was done and ready for a nice spring evening.

I'm linking exact top in my color and yellow, same jeans in light and dark wash and assorted sizes, and same shoes only in black rather than the blue that I have on. I think the jeans in the light wash with the yellow top and black heels would be so fantastic for summer and may have to get them ordered! I have had all these items for several years now and wear them over and over.

Here are some great boot cut jeans and tunic options for creating your own look!

Here are some fun leopard bags perfect for every season!

P.S. I got my hair cut and am having so much fun with it already! This graduated cut is my favorite of all the styles I have had over the years.

Natalie Attired-The Mini Series-Part Deux

THE SCOOP

Be sure to read part un here, of this mini series for the scoop on what my little blog mini-series is all about! Short story, I am test driving Natalie Attired (A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love.) and this car will be staying in my drive!

THE OUTFIT

For this outfit I again wore the thyme colored pull-on pants but added the second top sent to me. It was the only piece that I thought I might have to send back. It is an over sized tunic and the fit just about over whelmed me. But the print and colors are so gorgeous I was determined to find ways to make it work. Without much thought I decided to tie a knot in the front and viola! It was perfect. This time I wore my Mexican Fire Opal because it matched my top perfectly. Same shoes and hat but a clutch this time and another outfit for going out or staying in was created!

Further down you will get another sneak peak at the dress Natalie Attired sent me. I want to tell you more but dolls, I'm saving it for the cliff hanger on Friday so stay with me!

Here is another peek at the dress I've been teasing! This top is so versatile! The booties in this outfit below are so fun. They have a masculine look but have velvet shoe strings giving them a feminine touch! Fashion designers are brilliant! I styled the top with this dress two ways, one with a belt and one where I knotted the front.

Thanks for stopping by! See you Friday for the mini-series finale/cliff hanger!

Peace!

Black Slacks For A Modern Look

MY OUTFIT

My Blogger Friend Jodie of www.JTouchofStyle.com recently did a post on styling black slacks. Jodie reminded me that a I had a few pair from my going into work at the office days. They are classic and I doubt I will ever get rid of them. This pair is oh so comfy, in a thick knit fabric that holds its shape and fits like a glove. They zip at the side so no bulk ANYWHERE! I need a thousand pairs in this style! I almost didn't want to take them off at the end of the day!

To complete my outfit I wore one of my many leopard cardigans, an item I kind of collect. I have them in all styles, shades and price ranges but my favorite right now is a new one I got at Old Navy! Yes, and it is a goodin! I wore a pair of black booties, one of my amber necklaces and carried a cream tote. This outfit would work for the office, a business dinner or for lunch with a friend! These pants will stay at the front of my closet for a while!

WHERE ON EARTH AM I?

I wrote this post in Idaho but by the time is goes live I will be in Arizona. I'm leaving a foot of snow behind to sit by the pool. If I can stand to put on a bathing suit. I have been eating like a bear getting ready to hibernate and need to lose at least 3 lbs. It's amazing how just a few pounds can make your pants tight and really show up on camera! Ugh!. Hopefully I can get back to a routine and tone down the beast a little.

Country Mountain Business Suit

THE OUTFIT

I call this my country mountain business suit! I saw an outfit with camouflage pants, a denim jacket and heels sort of like this that I wanted to recreate but I didn't have camouflage pants (yet). :-). I did have a camouflage jacket that I a bought late this summer and pants that were the perfect shade of green to with the jacket. How to put those together started rolling through my mind. Of course, a black and white striped tee and suede black pumps would be perfect! I put it together and found I liked it way more than the suits I used to wear when I worked at the University. It had a suit like look but with a casual and edgy side. Definitely will wear this again.

HAIR TODAY GONE TOMORROW

I had an appointment to get a hair cut a few weeks ago but had to reschedule and am just now finally (today) going to see my stylist. To be honest I am not sure what I want done. I like this length but love it shorter too. And my color now is lack luster and needs something. I think I will just let my stylist do whatever she wants, she is so good at knowing what I like and has never steered me wrong. And I've been going to her for 10 years. So we'll all see what she thinks soon!

Red Hot Summer Style

The Outfit

I love red so much for summer and in this outfit I added skinny raw hem jeans and wedge sandals. Nothing really too original. To make it all pop I added a leopard bag. Big hoop earrings and a watch and that was it. This was before I started wearing my watch on my right wrist (see post here). The top is an off the shoulder in a light weight fabric so it hangs nicely. Everything is a few seasons old and still standing the test of time trend wise.

What's Happening

Where is the summer going? We have been so busy I don't feel like I've been able to enjoy the full summer season. And now we have fires all over the northwest so we can barely go outside without choking from the smoke. This is fairly normal for this time of year here in Idaho. But it will last until September at least so summer spent outdoors is about over.

We finally visited our new Starbucks. It is on the second story and has a balcony that wraps around two sides. It is really nice!

These pictures make me see how much I need a hair cut, I am really liking it shorter these days. Luckily I have an appointment in couple of weeks.

I'm really excited because I have some new fall items arriving soon to style and share with you. I don't see any real new trends yet but the soft cozy and comfortable look will be big. Lots of warm cardigans, soft jeans and cute booties look to be the norm. I love the fall most of all the seasons and fall clothes are so fun.
