Color My Mood

boots 3.JPG

The Scoop

Seriously gang, rich colors like those in this outfit make my heart sing. They make me happy. Finding the perfect combination of colors is a lucky gift when you can find them. These blues and plums complement each other like they were meant to be.

We are back in Idaho checking on the houses in the mountains and valley. There is a ton of snow at the mountain place and it is still coming down. There are avalanche warnings going off on the TV as I write this post. I hope to get some pictures this week. In the valley it is cloudy and raining a ton. Winter in Idaho is never dull, that is for sure. I have learned to enjoy the climate no matter where I am though. I always say, “you can laugh or you can cry and I chose to laugh!”

boots 4.JPG

My Look

I am wearing a Karen Kane top, Free People cardigan, 7 for all Mankind jeans and boots from Target. And gang, they are my favorite pair of OTK boots. Everything in this look is at least a season or two old but I wear them often because of the fun colors. My leather cross body bag is a major fun thrift find bought in Arizona last winter. All I can say it this is one of my favorite winter. outfits.

Valentine's Date Night Look

The Scoop

Happy February gang! Can you believe we are well into 2019 already? February means we start thinking (or not) of that fun holiday where we celebrate those we love! It may be our partner, children, or close friends that we call our valentine but we love an excuse to eat candy and celebrate. And for some of us it is a distraction to get us through winter and closer to spring!

My husband and I have no Valentine’s Day traditions. Over the years we have done different things. Like one year he ran me a bubble bath with candles all around to soak in while he made a romantic dinner. One year, I did everything, made a dinner, dressed up in a sexy red dress and all he had to do was bring me flowers. Easy! Last year I thought we wouldn’t do anything and he surprised me with a big bag full of goodies, candy, jewelry, card, etc. He gave it to me after I had on my old PJs and I opened it in bed and ate it all right then! I thought it was so fun. Some years we do nothing at all. This year? We plan to go out to a favorite restaurant.

Do you have Valentines’s Day traditions or do you wing it like us?

My Look

Since we will be going out I need a dress! Right? I created a holiday look this year that I loved so much I thought I would do something similar for Valentines Day. I have this dress in three colors, black (see here), blue (see here) and now this gray. It is such a versatile dress that I wear it for a lot of things. You can add anything to it to give it a different vibe. Since it is cool at night here in Arizona I added a big cozy red cardigan. This cardigan is perfection! Soft, over sized, and that deep color of red that I think of on Valentine’s Day. The sweater will be used for many outfits for me because where I am in the summer (Idaho Mountains) is sometimes colder than where I am now (Arizona Desert). I decided to wear my floral Sam Edelman sandals to complete this look. I grabbed my backpack but will probably just carry a clutch when we go out. For jewelry I wore big hoop earrings, a fabulous statement necklace and my look was complete.

How I Do Monochromatic

The Scoop

I think one of the easiest looks to put together is a monochromatic look. For this post I styled two, one in black and one in blue. One of the things I like to do when putting together a monochromatic look is use texture. It can give a look more depth and interest. So I’m not afraid to mix sheer, with suede or other types of fabric that have opposing textures.

Look One

For this outfit I wore all black. The top is a sheer fabric with a underlay and it is an off shoulder top. I love the string around the neck to keep it all in place. I wore black slacks in a soft fabric and suede pumps that have a ruffle accent. To complete the look I carried my leopard clutch. I mean it can’t get much more simple, right?

I learned a little trick this past year that I can’t wait to share! I order pumps a half size larger than my normal size and they are 100 times more comfortable! I guess this is a Megan Markle trick too but it works!

blue 1.JPG

Look Two

This look is all in dark blue, even my shoes! The top is a knit cold shoulder with some fun detail on the yoke and bell 3/4 sleeves. I wore dark blue jeans and dark blue wedge shoes and then my leopard clutch to complete the look.

See how I do the cold shoulder look in the winter here, here and here.

Summer Chic

all black 1.JPG

the scoop

I love summer fashion but I think options are limited when it comes to variety. Other seasons give you more of an opportunity to layer which provides endless options and creativity. But I must admit putting together an outfit for an evening out is a lot of fun when you don't have to think about keeping warm. And I think a monochromatic look is so chic for summer. All black or all white just always works.

Linking exact jeans, shoes and top (limited sizes and colors) and a couple of similar tops and fun bags for summer.

all black 11.JPG

my look

This top covers a lot but yet it doesn't. The sleeves are sheer so not at all too warm for evenings and baring the shoulders is also a comfortable way to keep cool. This top is great because it is nicely secured around the neck. You don't even think about it falling or being too revealing. I decided to wear it with cropped black denim for a chic look. I had packed most of my belts to move to our other house so had to use this silver metal belt which I ended up actually liking. Nothing makes black pop more than tan shoes and bags so there you have it. A complete look. I added colorful earrings for fun. It wasn't planned but red toes and white nails added even more interest to this look.

Candy Land

pink 1.JPG

Color me Candy!

the scoop

I never want to take this cami and these pumps off! They zero in on the part of my brain that says HAPPY! The colors of these pieces make me think of all the wonderful candies of my childhood. I remember getting a dollar and walking or riding my bike the two miles to the Ben Franklin's store in town and spending it all on candy and then eating it all the way home. Simple joys of childhood never leave me! I remember the candy isle of that store and all the options and decisions. So fun!

Linking up my cami. It comes in lots of colors and they restock often so if you can't find the color you want check back. I am wearing boyfriend jeans and linked up similar ones as well as fun shoe and bag options for creating your own look!

pink 10.JPG

Delicious

is how I describe these colors!

my look

This cami is a new staple in my closet. I have it in black, white, mustard, cream and this pink. I have one in black and one in cream that have a fun little panel in the front too. It is lined and fits perfectly and can be worn with everything. I will use them all year long because they are great for layering as temperatures dip.

I wore my cami with ripped jeans that I got a couple of years ago and a old duster along with pumps purchased earlier this spring. See posts with these shoes here and here. I wore my Tuckernuck earrings and carried my thrifted bag to complete this look.

Linking more fun options!

Where The Wind Blows

It's my

Birthday Weekend!

the scoop

As I write this post I have no plans to celebrate my birthday. My husband's birthday is the day after mine and we decided to wing it! Fly by the seat of our pants and go where the wind blows us on our special weekend. No matter what we end up doing it will include taking time to relax and reflect and be grateful. We did manage to book a hotel at the last minute but other than that anything can happen! As long as I am in bed by 9! Ha ha!

Basket bags are so fun for summer, especially when they are thrifted!

my look

This top grabbed me when I saw it due to its bright colors. Then I saw the style. We used to make these tops by the dozens when I was a teen. We used a soft white rope cord to string through the top to tie it in the back. This is the easiest top to make and we all learned to sew making it. The fabric on this top is a crepe (another blast from the past) so it hangs softly which I love also. I wore it with jeans and platform wedges and carried a fabulous straw bag that I got a a thrift shop a few years ago. I wore my bright orange tassel earrings from Tuckernuck and a bracelet that I bought in Mazatlan a few years ago and my Michael Kors watch. And that was that! A fun summer look. I think I would like this top in other colors it is so cute and comfy. I wear stick on bras with tops like this. I'll link it so you can see what I am talking about.

Linking my top (tts, I am wearing a small petite for the shorter length) and jeans (limited sizing when I posted) along with shoe and bag options!

Camo For Spring?

Camo for spring?

It's a thing! All you have to do is add some white to make it pop for the season!

I guess we see camo being worn for about every season. It's almost become a neutral. I think of it as something I wear in the fall the most. But I LOVE these pants so much and had to see how they would work for a spring look.

In this look I wore a my newest field jacket, a pair of wedge sandals and a bamboo bag.

Here are links to my exact look!

Adding white to my look

along with wedge sandals and bamboo bag gave these pants a real spring vibe.

For this look I switched out my jackets for a light weight duster and loved the way it turned out. These pants are so fun with the zipper detail. They have a little stretch so they are oh so comfy! I tried different earrings with each look and just cannot get enough of the Baublebar earrings from Target.

Thanks for Stopping by gang!

Sheer Tops & Style Wise Link Up

So A sheer top you say?

I usually don't wear them because the need to layer underneath adds bulk that doesn't work on my short frame.

But when I saw this top it was so beautiful that I thought I would give it the old college try! I found a nice fitted little white t-back tank and hauled it all home. All the while thinking I wouldn't be able to pull it off and would be returning.

I styled it with my long and lean flares and my platform shoes and SHAZAM! I think it worked! I can't tell you how pretty this top is, with the navy color and white dots and flowers. It has big bell sleeves with a split and a sharks tooth hem. It has it all and screams spring!

My top is no longer available but here are some beautiful options for creating your own look. Sheer tops are so popular for spring and I am obsessed with the longer ones so stay tuned for that!

It was just fun putting it on

I felt sassy, comfortable and bohemain all at the same time.

The trick I think was the form fitting tank and the longer jeans to help balance my body. Also choosing a sheer top that was the perfect fit in my shoulders and length just hitting the tops of my thighs helped. My white cross body bag was the perfect bag for this look. I had to have a glass of wine to celebrate my success in making this sheer tunic work!

The first pair of jeans and the first pair of shoes linked are what I am wearing  and I've added more options along with bags too, for creating your own look!

As always gang, thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

Maxi Season

It's Maxi Season

Spring and summer are the times of year when I wear a maxi dress the most.

I was going through pictures and brutally deleting those that were awful. When I ran across these I knew I wanted to use them even though the lighting is not the best. Because this dress is crazy cute and comfortable.

It's made of the nicest quality knit, hangs perfectly and the colors are very vibrant and rich. It has slits on both sides up to the knee and is shorter so I can wear flat sandals with it making it perfect for hanging out in the summer.

You won't beleve where I got it

I got it last summer at Costco. That's right, they have cute clothes there too! And I went yesterday to see if they had them again and they do. I picked up another one in a beautiful Merlot color. Score!

I always try to dress for dinner, even when we eat at home. I make nice meals and love to celebrate the day in style. This dress has been perfect for dinners here in Arizona.

If you can't get to a Costco, here are some similar dresses, flip flops and bags for creating your own look! My flip flops are leather and I love to have a few in black and nude for casual outfits.

As always gang, thanks for stopping by!

Got That 70s Thing Going On

Got That 70s Thing Going On

Got That 70s Thing Going On

the scoop

This look started out with this handbag I won on a blog giveaway. I can't remember winning much of anything so it was a cool surprise when I was told I had won this fabulous bag. I had always had my eyes on a few GiGi New York bags but had never taken the plunge. But now that I have one and see the quality I will be investing in more. This exact bag comes in a green that I am obsessed with.  This bag is also the perfect size for me for an everyday bag because I am not one that carries around a lot of things when just doing errands and going out to eat.

The jeans were chosen on this day because they are truly the most comfortable jeans I own. The have stretch and are higher waisted so no pulling them up every five minutes like a lot of my lower waisted jeans. Another reason I picked these jeans for this look is they are a dark wash which I love because they feel a little dressier. Lastly I wore them because I am obsessed with this style. It reminds me of the second decade of my life when bell bottoms were the thing. Although back then I wore bell bottom hip hugger jeans! Remember those? Ha so fun!

This 70s look would not be complete with out platform shoes. I remember before school started, the year I would enter 7th grade and my mom took me shopping for school clothes and I bought my first ever pair of platform shoes. I mean I was rockin" it. The coolest styles ever. I got the shoes in this outfit last summer and love them. They seem high but with the platforms they are so comfortable.

The last piece to this look is an old top I got at the thrift shop last winter here in Arizona. It is really almost too small and it has a missing button but it is so cute with the embroidered flowers that I wear it all the time. I love that if I raise my arms the sleeves are too short so I leave them unbuttoned and I love that somewhere, I can't remember where a button is missing. It's just so carefree as life was for me in the 70s.

my outfit

This look is made up of a vintage Chico's shirt, Express high waisted dark wash flared jeans, Ted Baker Platform shoes and a GiGi New York Satchel. I got the jeans last year and loved them so much I got several pair just before they sold out. I didn't think they would come back in but I just checked and they are back! I sized down in these due to the nice stretch. I usually wear a 4 in jeans but I get these in 2. Also they are long, I get the regular length and still wear 3 to 4 inch heels.  You can get them in short and tall lengths. I highly recommend them!

Shoe Girl Goes Rogue Part Trois

Shoe Girl Gone Rogue Part Trois

Shoe Girl Gone Rogue Part Trois

create your own look

Shoes c/o Adrian Allen and Dress c/o Natalie Attired. I linked lots of options that I adore too!

the scoop

Well, here we are, part three of my mini series on ways to style these beautiful Adrian Allen shoes. See Part Un and Part Deux. For this post I decdied to wear them with dresses. A shorter dress for cocktails or date night and then a maxi for a summer wedding or warm vacation destination.

my outfits

In this first look I am wearing a short black dress with a sheer yoke. Very simple style but also very versatile. Adding nude shoes elongates my legs and the leopard clutch adds a little color to the look. For jewelry I kept it simple with a multi amber necklace. I grabbed a scarf for those chilly restaurants or any late evening breeze.

In the second look I wanted to feel romantic so I styled the shoes with a maxi dress in a fun print. Big hoop earrings and a wicker tote in some pictures and a clutch in others completed this vacation getaway look.

The shoes are the star of the show for both these outfits. Isn't it amazing what a pair of shoes can do for an outfit?

Natalie Attired-The Mini Series

THE SCOOP

Here we are gang, the finale/cliff hangar of my mini series staring Natalie Attired. A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love. See the part un here and part deux here

THE OUTFIT

I have to start out by saying that I have the hardest time finding dresses that work for me. I have physical attributes that make finding a dress that fits difficult, so when I pulled this gorgeous dress out of the box I was jumping up and down! So cute and versatile. This dress can be accessorized for any occasion and to top it off gang, can you believe, I don't have a little black dress? How did Natalie Attired know?

I styled this dress six ways to Sunday and could still do more. First just wearing it as it was, was enough! The sheer fabric on the yoke is a subtle but beautiful detail. For this post I styled it with the jacket from Natalie Attired and with both the tops they sent me and then with a scarf from my closet. For shoes I wore it with a cute pair of booties that reflect my personality and then with with a pair of leopard flats that also speak my name. For jewelry, all I wanted was pair of earrings and for a bag my leopard clutch and boom, ready to go!

Further down in this post you will see how I wore the dress with both the tops sent to me by Natalie Attired. In all, there are five different looks with this dress in this post.

That's it dolls. This series is complete. I call it a cliff hangar though because I see Natalie Attired in my future!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

Natalie Attired-The Mini Series-Part Deux

THE SCOOP

Be sure to read part un here, of this mini series for the scoop on what my little blog mini-series is all about! Short story, I am test driving Natalie Attired (A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love.) and this car will be staying in my drive!

THE OUTFIT

For this outfit I again wore the thyme colored pull-on pants but added the second top sent to me. It was the only piece that I thought I might have to send back. It is an over sized tunic and the fit just about over whelmed me. But the print and colors are so gorgeous I was determined to find ways to make it work. Without much thought I decided to tie a knot in the front and viola! It was perfect. This time I wore my Mexican Fire Opal because it matched my top perfectly. Same shoes and hat but a clutch this time and another outfit for going out or staying in was created!

Further down you will get another sneak peak at the dress Natalie Attired sent me. I want to tell you more but dolls, I'm saving it for the cliff hanger on Friday so stay with me!

Here is another peek at the dress I've been teasing! This top is so versatile! The booties in this outfit below are so fun. They have a masculine look but have velvet shoe strings giving them a feminine touch! Fashion designers are brilliant! I styled the top with this dress two ways, one with a belt and one where I knotted the front.

Thanks for stopping by! See you Friday for the mini-series finale/cliff hanger!

Peace!

Almost Didn't Happen

MY OUTFIT

These boots arrived at my door late Saturday evening while I was visiting my granddaughter and family. I got home so late I didn't get to open the package and then Sunday came and we were so busy running around shopping and then I cleaned the condo and put pizza dough together to start rising and one thing led to another until I wasn't sure I would get pictures for a post today (Monday). But I finally had time to open the package and put together an outfit and get some indoor pictures taken. If I hadn't been so in love with the boots I might not have even done a post but I wanted you to see them.

OMG they are so comfortable and cute. They have a lower heel than I normally wear and the fabric on the legs is so perfect! Just delicious! I wore a light weight sweater that was loose and had fun sleeves that are bells with a tie. The ties are sewn on so you don't have to fuss with them.  It also has a cute split up the back that is fun. I put on a pair of skinny jeans and grabbed my leopard clutch to complete this outfit.

My nails weren't done and a mess because of cleaning and cooking and I had to try to pull my hair up to get it in some kind of order but you understand I am sure that it was urgent I get this post up! Duh, I'm such a nut! Ha Ha!

LIFE IN PHOENIX

My husband and I are having so much fun here in Phoenix. Our condo is small and nothing fancy but it is perfect for us to spend our time doing other things rather taking care of it. We've been hiking the nearby mountains and I have been getting runs in every other day. I still cook most of our meals because I love to cook but we get to eat on our patio. We have lovely neighbors from Canada that also spend most of their winters here.

I get to see my granddaughter often because they only live about 5 miles away. She is a delight and I never could have understood the love for a granddaughter until she came along. t's all good. We're spending Thanksgiving Day with our family and my heart is full of joy! I am so thankful and not just on Thanksgiving day but everyday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

When It Feels Right

MY OUTFIT

This outfit was created on one of those days when I had no idea what I wanted to wear. I just walked into my closet and looked around to see what struck me. My eye was drawn to this jacket that I have had so many years I don't even know where I got it. Of course it is a favorite due to the style with the tie front, the fall colors and the fun print. It is a perfect piece for fall. But what to go with it? I decided on a pair of skinny jeans and OTK boots. I wore a cream camisole under the jacket and carried a fringe clutch in a dark blue. For jewelry I wore a piece of Amber. I had no idea how this look would turn out but when all was said and done , it just felt right. And I have learned that when it feels right, go with it!

WHAT'S UP THIS WEEK?

I'm in Arizona enjoying the warmer climate. We are out and about every single day and in the evenings on our patio having dinner and glass of wine. We live in an area where everything you need is within walking distance so we try to walk everywhere and it feels so good.

I'm having a little trouble getting pictures because people are everywhere and the lighting is so different than what I am used to. So I am playing around searching for the best setting, etc.

I'm thinking of redesigning my blog. I do this each year about this time so it is ready by the new year. I get bored with the same old look but I also want it to be original so I'm not sure what I will do this year.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!
