Arms

A Story About

Arms

the scoop

I can't believe I am still reading articles and posts saying women should not show their arms as they get older. Jeez people, what are we supposed to do when it gets hot? Give me a BREAK! Because of this societal pressure I used to be very self conscious of my arms. I have been working on silencing the voices of a life time of putting me in a corner and finding it rather easy. So when I found this top I thought it was so cute and by golly I was going to wear it! And I'm asking all my readers to join me and show your arms!

I'm linking my exact top in a gorgeous blue, similar pants and wedges that I recently bought and LOVE. I'm also linking a bag that I am obsessed with to complete this look for you!

my look

I wore this fabulous coral top with my olive green pants, tan wedge sandals and I carried my leopard clutch. For jewelry I wore large silver hoop earrings, my watch and a sliver bracelet. The top really was the star of the show so nothing more was needed.

Linking two complete "Show Your Arms" looks that would be so gorgeous!

Thanks For Stopping By!

Peace!

Summer Nautical

THE OUTFIT

I wish you could see this top up close. It is a tunic tank in a deep navy color with little anchors all over. So adorable! I added white skinny jeans, navy wedge sandals, a white denim jacket and a navy fringed clutch. As usual I wore my big hoop earrings, and layered my delicate necklaces. Everything is old but you can definitely recreate this outfit if you want a nautical look. Start with cropped white pants, a navy or red top, a fun denim or canvas jacket and you are good to go!

RECENT Outing

Last Saturday I met up with a gal pal and we participated in a local walk/run for charity. It was called the Huckleberry Trot and it was held in a tiny town down the road from us. It was a beautiful morning in the mountains and afterwards we went to lunch at Bistro 45 for an amazing spinach salad. We had such a good time catching up and talked so much it almost wore me out more than the walk. Ha Ha! We got to eat outside in the most lovely environment. If you are ever in McCall I would recommend eating at the Bistro 45.

I was worried about being outside exercising because for the past couple of weeks the Northwest has been enveloped in smoke due to fires all over the place. It has been so bad that I only go out early in the day and I keep the house closed up all day and night. Where we live it stays so cool we have never had to use air conditioning and we still haven't needed it this year. My house stays cool enough that I usually wear a cardigan all day while inside. I try to do my hikes or runs early in the day but many days by the end of the day, I am dizzy and light headed from the smoke. I think we are about out of it for this year (this is an annual thing) so I am looking forward to our fresh pine scented air again soon.

My gal pal and I decided to plan an outing. We live about a four hour drive from Sun Valley, ID and we have heard there is an amazing consignment store there so we are going on a day trip soon. We are both excited!

I wanted to share with you a new group board on my Pinterest! I love Pinterest as many of us do but it seems as in many things, it is more represented by the young and fabulous in the fashion and style genre. I am moving to make a change and created a group board titled Style Wise. Check it out here. It was just created and needs some more inspiration so if you are a fashion and style blogger and would like to be a contributor let me know via northwestmountainliving@gmail.com. I would love to have more Style Wise women help me show brands and society our value and relevance!

Blogger Things We Do

THE OUTFIT

It's official! I'm bat a_ s crazy! You know how hard it is to get pictures of yourself leisurely working in your bedroom? I had to get up, set the timer on Mr Tripod and with 10 seconds dive-bomb onto the bed and look casual! Where is the white coat?!! All in the day of a life of a hobby blogger! P.S. that cup was empty.

When I took these photos I was laughing a lot. It was so ridiculously funny to think about the things I do as a blogger. I take my own photos. I use a cannon camera set on auto with a timer set for 10 seconds and it's set up on a tripod. So I have 10 seconds to get into position for pictures. I usually take about 15 to 20 pictures per outfit and about half of them turn out decent. Sometimes none of them can be used. I decided for this shoot I wanted to do a blogger thing I have seen. Me, casually working in my bedroom. Now there are lots of mornings that I do work in bed but I do not look like this and my bed is not made up. But I was trying to create an illusion here. It was fun and my sweet dog sat on the floor beside me watching the whole episode very curiously. He is used to his crazy mom so he just guarded me until I was done.  My outfit was an off the shoulder sweatshirt that I got last year with a comfy lace bralette, skinny white jeans and my bar necklace. At least I was dressed comfortably.
