Two Knee Boots

Sweaters and Boots

the scoop

The title says two knee boots because I wanted to show you two different pairs of knee boots in this post. One budget friendly and one at a higher price point. I thought it would be fun to try them out and see if you could see the difference. I could tell but both had good points and bad points.

One pair is nice quality leather with beautiful stitching and one is totally not leather and feels cheap but looks ok and was actually more comfortable. They both are perfect for different occasions. I would wear the less expensive pair for everyday activities or really casual events. I wouldn’t worry about them getting dirty or scuffed. The other pair I would wear for parties and nicer occasions where I knew I wouldn’t be beating them up too much.

The boots of the season are the knee boots and seem to sell out fast. I like them because they are easier get off and on than the over the knee boots. I’ve had my eye on them since last winter when I started seeing them and thought they would be the next fun boot.

my look

I’m also sharing in this post more of DG2 items sent to me last week in a press kit. Two fabulous sweaters and a pair of but lifting jeans. They are all classic, very well made of quality material and great basics for the closet. The sweaters one in black and one in cream have ruffle detailing around the wrists and at the hem. They are not itchy at all, I can’t stand itchy sweaters and they are a medium weight so not too warm and not at all bulky. The jeans have a layer of fabric on the inside in the back that lifts and supports the rear end. It really works but you don’t feel all trussed up at all. They have a high waist and are very comfortable. I have worn them almost everyday since I got them a week ago.

I wore the black sweater with a statement necklace and my slouchy boots. I wore the cream sweater with a leopard scarf and the other pair of knee boots. The jeans were worn in both looks. I will be wearing these items often this winter.

My Sam Edleman (worm with cream sweatwer) boots are sold out already but I found a similar pair in the same brand to link as well as the pair I got from Target (worn with the black sweater). I also linked same sweater (it comes in many colors), same jeans and a leopard scarf option. You can find DG2 items on HSN.com.

How I Take Casual to a Party

jacket 7.JPG

the scoop

Last Monday I came home after taking my fur babies for their check up at the vet to find a big box at my door. Well, who doesn’t love to find big boxes at their door especially when you don’t know who it is from or what was in it. I knew right then that the holiday season had begun! I was already in an elated mood because my fur babies’ checkups had given me great news, so this added event tipped my day even higher.

I took the package inside and found it was a PR package full of beautiful clothes from Diane Gilman. I had shown some of her clothes this time last year. See here and here. And they were asking me to let them know what I thought of this year’s fall and winter collection. And if I liked would I be an Ambassador. So this post is C/O Diane Gilman and Alison Brod Marketing & Communications.

I don’t do collaborations anymore unless it is something I really love and I wouldn’t being showing these things with you if I weren’t a fan so all this week I will be sharing what they sent to me with you.

my look

I’m wearing DG2 jeans that are in a fabulous grey with a seam down the front and a slit up the front. The details on these jeans are so cute. They have a little stretch so they fit comfortably and give you shape. They are of excellent quality. The fabric is a nice weight and all the seams are straight and perfect. The jacket is also DG2 in a stretch denim and a almost buttery cream color. The jack has faux fur detailing on the collar and inside the front. I mean it is over the top pretty. You can remove the fur from the collar which can give you another look. I think I need it in other colors!

I wore the jeans and jacket with a plain long sleeved white tee and pulled out my party pumps! You know “tis the season” when I start wearing my plaid pumps. I carried my leopard clutch and to take my casual look to party I wore over sized pearls.

The best part about this look is that I took a casual denim and tee look from day to party just by adding fun jewelry, a clutch, fur collar, and pumps with pizzazz! All comfort, no fuss and party ready!

sup’

  • I missed the gym and running for a week so back on track this week.

  • I was bored on Saturday night so I put up our tree. I wanted to try some things I learned on YouTube.

  • I will be working on my own YouTube video this week with friend who is a makeup expert. I really want to learn how to apply make better.

  • I made the most amazing and healthy fist tacos last night. They will be on repeat. Here is the recipe. Next time I think I will try them with shrimp.

  • November is my blogiversary. I will have been blogging five years. Kind of a big deal to me so I am trying to come up with a way to mark the occasion. One is that I am working on a blog makeover, you might have noticed some of the changes already.

create your own look

I’m linking exact jacket and it comes in three colors ( cream, black and dark denim), I could not find the link to my exact jeans but I am linking others that are really festive. Linking my exact clutch and similar heels. My necklace is J Crew from a few years ago but I am linking one that is really pretty also from J Crew. I’m also going ahead and linking the jeans and sweaters they sent me that I will show later this week. They sent the sweater to me in black and one in cream but it comes in many beautiful colors and I want them all. The jeans are butt lifting and that they do! I will tell you more about how they are made and why they work on my next post. You’ll find more Diane Gilman on HSN.com.

Blogger's Slump?

scarf 6.JPG

the scoop

Well gang, I must confess my heart is not into blogging lately. I am in a total slump and have no vision or inspiration for fun new looks to share. I am not sure if it is a temporary thing or what but I am struggling and have been for most of the summer. Is that called a blogger's slump? I don't know but I got it bad. So I am going to take the month of August off and see if some time off will help me get my mojo back. I'll take some time and try to enjoy some summer with family and friends and hope this passes. Some good old fashion taking care of myself may go a long way. Finger's crossed!

my look

These pants are so different with the fun hem. I haven't worn them for almost a year and thought wearing them with a white tee might be fun. Then I added an old square scarf and an old pair of wedge sandals to complete my look. My orange tassel earrings and a wicker bag were great accessories.

create your look

My look above is from last summer but below are some fun options for creating your own look!

the scoop

I was invited to participate on a couple of blogs this week featuring 10 women over 40 wearing denim. I guess that's something that some think you can't do or at least do well. Well, I beg to differ. Again. Anyway, these fabulous ladies showed everyone that you can still rock denim after 40. Check out Ask Suzanne Bell and Fountain Of 30's blog posts featuring women over 40 rockin jeans!

I decided to go back through my archives and get some pictures showing how we can wear any and every style and have fun and be chic while at it.

my outfits

I will go down the list here and tell you the style of jean I am wearing. My favorites are the flare though (or if you are my age, bell bottoms). What's your favorite sytle and why?
