Shoes c/o Adrian Allen and Dress c/o Natalie Attired. I linked lots of options that I adore too!

the scoop

Well, here we are, part three of my mini series on ways to style these beautiful Adrian Allen shoes. See Part Un and Part Deux. For this post I decdied to wear them with dresses. A shorter dress for cocktails or date night and then a maxi for a summer wedding or warm vacation destination.

my outfits

In this first look I am wearing a short black dress with a sheer yoke. Very simple style but also very versatile. Adding nude shoes elongates my legs and the leopard clutch adds a little color to the look. For jewelry I kept it simple with a multi amber necklace. I grabbed a scarf for those chilly restaurants or any late evening breeze.

In the second look I wanted to feel romantic so I styled the shoes with a maxi dress in a fun print. Big hoop earrings and a wicker tote in some pictures and a clutch in others completed this vacation getaway look.

The shoes are the star of the show for both these outfits. Isn't it amazing what a pair of shoes can do for an outfit?

Shoes c/o Adrian Allen and Tunic c/o Natalie Attired

the scoop

On Monday's post here I told you about my love for these shoes and promised that I would spend this week showing you how versatile they are. For today's post I thought showing you how they could be used for a vacation in a warmer climate or in the summer would be fun. These shoes would be perfect for a pool party, or for summer entertaining on the deck. Or think about wearing them out to lunch on a hot summer day.

my outfits

My first outfit is a tunic c/o Natalie Attired that is a lovely sheer fabric making it perfect for a swimsuit cover up. I grabbed a big straw bag and boom! This look is so comfortable, chic and fun! You can see other ways I styled this tunic here

My second look is showing you how fun a lower heel can be with shorts. I put on a pair of floral shorts with a chambray shirt for this look. A little cross body straw bag completed this look. I will certainly be wearing these shoes all summer long!

the scoop

I've been told a few times that I must like my heels. And it is the truth, I love a shoe with heels but it's not the heel as much as it is the style of the shoe. I like my shoes to make a statement not just cover my feet. Give me a shoe with style no matter the heel and I'm all in!

When Gwen from Adrian Allen shoes contacted me I wasn't familiar with their shoes. But to be honest when I clicked on their website to look, this shoe took my breath away, literally I sucked in air. Who would not love theses shoes? Right away I could envision these shoes on my feet styled in so many ways.

So this week I will be showing you just how versatile these shoes are with a mini series! Today is Shoe Girl Gone Rouge-Part Un!

my outfit

I decided to style my shoes for this post with a couple of casual looks. Something I would wear to go shopping and lunch with girl friends or out for an evening with my husband.

In the first look I am wearing a light weight neutral colored sweater with bell tie sleeves over a lace t-back bra and white skinny jeans. I put on a Butterscotch Amber necklace and carried a leopard clutch and boom! An easy chic look.

In the second look I wanted to be a little more romantic so I styled a pink tie front top, switched out my necklace and carried a tote creating another soft and easy look.

After wearing these shoes I realized that not only were they fabulously chic but ultra comfortable. I could seriously wear them all day and feel great. These shoes are a luxury; a splurge but so worth it. I really think I need them in black too!

Goals For 2018

IMG_5231.JPG

the scoop

I am a big fan of writing down goals. I have done it for years and rarely has there been something I haven't written down that I didn't achieve. Books have been written on research which supports writing down goals to help achieve them. I think my success is partly because my goals are usually realistic. So, although a lot of people think new year's resolutions are silly, I do make them. I just call them goals for the new year. I break them down into categories like health and fitness, financial, career, etc. This year one of my goals is to really take care of my skin. Try new things with skin care and see how it goes. That's doable, right?

Below is my list for 2018. It's about all I do (detail wise) but it is effective for me.

Even though I am very techy, I still love to have a simple planner that I can have by my desk and carry in my tote. Here are some really cute options.

most exciting goal

The goal I am most excited about is skin care. I will investigate and experiment with natural beauty techniques, over the counter products and even talk more to my skin care provider to see what is new in the medical industry. I'm excited to see what I learn and how my skin reacts and even how it all makes me feel.

To be honest as much as I say this aging thing is okay, fun, interesting, etc. It really can be difficult at times. It's so hard to watch and feel physical changes. Everything from more easily being injured while exercising, to not having as much energy and yes even to seeing more lines and drooping on my face. I am big about never quitting as you will have seen in this post. I don't quit when I get injured from running. I go to the appropriate health care provider, learn how to fix the problem and make sure I avoid it in the future. So I'm not going to quit on my skin either. It's no different than the rest of my body. It all adds up to feeling as great as possible as I continue to travel down the road of life!

Natural

So for starters, what I am trying right now? When life gives you lemons, use them. I recently read about using lemons to decrease spots and uneven skin tones. So off to the the grocery store I went to buy lemons! One lemon lasts a week easily. I slice a thin slice off and rub it all over my clean face, neck, chest and hands. I use it at night before I go to bed and again in the morning.  The verdict is still out but it smells good!

over the counter

One thing I am adding to my routine is RoC Retinol Correxion Max Daily Hydration Creme. This company was so sweet to gift me a package of this cream and I am excited about how my skin is reacting. I have heard only good things about RoC products! And when I went to my skin care provider and told her what I was trying she said it was perfect to be using as a brightener. I love it so much, I am adding this brand in a night cream because I was advised to slather on a nice thick layer of night cream to help hydrate my skin and decrease wrinkles.

IMG_3280.JPG

Other RoC products I plan to try this year as part of my skin care goals.

Professional advice

Earlier this week I met with my skin care professional and am so excited to share what we are up to. It will be in my next health and beauty post. Let's just say, it's an exciting journey!  Meanwhile, I will be adding  and trying new things, natural, over the counter and at the doctor's office so stay tuned it you're interested.

Let me know what you do for skin care. I would love to get a conversation going so I can learn more from you and hopefully you can learn from my experiences.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace!

How I Wear Hair Accessories

hair 6.JPG

THE SCOOP

True story. When I was in my early twenties an older lady I worked with, one day, yanked the hair clip I was wearing out of my hair and said I was too old to be wearing them. Nancy, I can't remember her last name was not a nice person.  Anyway, I actually let her make me think it was true and to this day rarely wear any accessories in my hair. But this winter I have been wanting to try new hair styles and have been playing around with putting my hair up but only using bobby pins.

In today's post I decided to try different styles using hair accessories by Litlla Rose. Marie Watson an independent consultant for Lilla Rose gave me a couple of beautiful clips to try out and share with you on the blog. And I really love them. They are the highest quality I have ever seen in a hair accessory and really pretty. Perfect for all ages in my opinion. I wish I had a whole collection of them. What I really like about these clips besides how pretty they are is that they come in different sizes so they will fit to the thickness of your hair. I have a medium for holding all my hair and a small for holding sections.

THE OUTFIT

I put together a fun holiday-ish look for a casual day of working at my desk and running errands. Black pants, black tee and a red cardigan. I wore a tan belt and booties and carried a leopard clutch to complete this outfit. I wore my hair half up using one of my new clips. These clips don't budge but they don't feel heavy so you forget they are there.

Later in the day when I was ready to relax I pulled all my hair up, took off the cardigan and grabbed a warm scarf for a more casual look and added my leopard slippers. For this hair style I just grabbed it, twisted a little and added both clips for fun. Loved it!

Natalie Attired-The Mini Series

THE SCOOP

Here we are gang, the finale/cliff hangar of my mini series staring Natalie Attired. A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love. See the part un here and part deux here

THE OUTFIT

I have to start out by saying that I have the hardest time finding dresses that work for me. I have physical attributes that make finding a dress that fits difficult, so when I pulled this gorgeous dress out of the box I was jumping up and down! So cute and versatile. This dress can be accessorized for any occasion and to top it off gang, can you believe, I don't have a little black dress? How did Natalie Attired know?

I styled this dress six ways to Sunday and could still do more. First just wearing it as it was, was enough! The sheer fabric on the yoke is a subtle but beautiful detail. For this post I styled it with the jacket from Natalie Attired and with both the tops they sent me and then with a scarf from my closet. For shoes I wore it with a cute pair of booties that reflect my personality and then with with a pair of leopard flats that also speak my name. For jewelry, all I wanted was pair of earrings and for a bag my leopard clutch and boom, ready to go!

Further down in this post you will see how I wore the dress with both the tops sent to me by Natalie Attired. In all, there are five different looks with this dress in this post.

That's it dolls. This series is complete. I call it a cliff hangar though because I see Natalie Attired in my future!

Thanks for stopping by!

Natalie Attired-The Mini Series-Part Deux

THE SCOOP

Be sure to read part un here, of this mini series for the scoop on what my little blog mini-series is all about! Short story, I am test driving Natalie Attired (A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love.) and this car will be staying in my drive!

THE OUTFIT

For this outfit I again wore the thyme colored pull-on pants but added the second top sent to me. It was the only piece that I thought I might have to send back. It is an over sized tunic and the fit just about over whelmed me. But the print and colors are so gorgeous I was determined to find ways to make it work. Without much thought I decided to tie a knot in the front and viola! It was perfect. This time I wore my Mexican Fire Opal because it matched my top perfectly. Same shoes and hat but a clutch this time and another outfit for going out or staying in was created!

Further down you will get another sneak peak at the dress Natalie Attired sent me. I want to tell you more but dolls, I'm saving it for the cliff hanger on Friday so stay with me!

Here is another peek at the dress I've been teasing! This top is so versatile! The booties in this outfit below are so fun. They have a masculine look but have velvet shoe strings giving them a feminine touch! Fashion designers are brilliant! I styled the top with this dress two ways, one with a belt and one where I knotted the front.

Thanks for stopping by! See you Friday for the mini-series finale/cliff hanger!

Peace!

Hello Natalie Attired-The Mini Series-Part Un

THE SCOOP

So here's the scoop! I am so excited to introduce you to Natalie Attired. A personalized, convenient, fun "try before you buy" clothes shopping experience for women. Based on your unique style profile, they will send you a collection of five coordinates from a wide variety of quality contemporary brands to create the looks you'll love.

And gang, that's what happened, they sent me the box! I am a self-described fashionista; I love fashion and everything that goes along with it. But to be honest, I don't enjoy going into physical stores. I would say 90% of my closet was purchased online.

When Natalie Attired told me they would pick out things I would like after I completed a profile, I kind of doubted they could get me just right. But gang, they did! I could have sent back anything I didn't want at no cost to me but every single thing they sent had me squealing!  My only challenge was to contain myself as I mixed and matched one outfit after another!

So this week I am doing a mini-series so I can show how much fun I had and that Natalie Attired truly GOT ME! Make sure you check in on Wedneseday and Friday to see all the things they sent and all the ways I styled them.

THE OUTFIT

So when I opened the box I found two tops, a jacket, a pair of pants and a DRESS (so much to say about the dress later in the mini series). Everything was so my colors! I have a distinctive set of colors that I love and have in my closet and all over my home. Warm earthy, rich yummy colors were in this box.

For my first outfit I wore the thyme colored pants. They just pulled on, covered my tummy completely and fit perfect while being totally comfortable. I added one of the tops and a pair of my booties and was so happy with the look that I had to add my fisherman's cap. I wore a piece of butterscotch Amber from my jewelry collection and carried one of my favorite bags and Ta Da! A hit for me!

Scroll down to see where I added the jacket they sent. This jacket will be a piece I will wear constantly. It is this amazing fabric that holds its shape but has stretch. It has zipper details on the sleeves and pockets which I adore and is an almost gun metal color!

Last, check out the first glimpse of the dress they sent. I don't want to give away too much but I can say I styled it in a least six ways and could have done more.

As always gang, thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for Wednesday's post, part deux of the mini-series.

Peace!

The Business Of Life With Misook

MY OUTFIT

I've spent my share of a career working in universities, as a director of education, associate professor and associate dean. I know what it means to dress for success. I have learned that looking professional helps me feel professional and that people respond better when I am in a professional state of mind.

Now that I work at home I still have times when a professional look is needed for meetings and events. Misook meets all my needs in that regard with classic but modern professional dresses, jackets, tops, slacks and skirts.

This jacket and pants will be on repeat for me due to their beautiful style, quality, and easy care. The details are my favorite part of these pieces. The jacket has zippers on the sleeves and the pants have zippers on the ankles. The brilliant blues in this tweed style jacket are striking and show vibrantly in the sunlight. The fabric of the pants and jacket is a beautiful knit fabric that is machine washable, wrinkle, fade, and stretch resistant, breathable with no cling and a silky hand. I am truly in love!

Read more below about how I styled the pants for a casual evening at home and the jacket for a night out with friends.

Casual Evening At Home

I don't know about you but I like to relax the minute I get home from a busy day. The pants for this post are pull on pants and as soft and comfy as any leisure pants you will find. So when I get home, I would leave them on and change into a more casual top and a pair of flats or slippers. For my evening look below, I used a denim jacket as my top, slipped on my favorite pair of leopard flats and added a scarf to snuggle in as night falls. I mean, really? How cute is this look?

EVENING OUT WITH FRIENDS

There are times, at the end of the week when I like to celebrate successes with friends and colleagues. In this case I would wear the same jacket but change into a pair of dark jeans and tee. Casual shoes and a clutch for my lip stick and I am out the door!

Everyday Style For Fall

MY OUTFIT

Happy Monday all! I am so excited about this week. After taking a long weekend off from all things blog I am ready to go again focusing on the joy it brings me. Speaking of joy, this outfit does just that. It speaks fall and comfort and simple everyday style. You can get all the shopping details on my Boutique & Chatter page. But let me tell you a little about it. The top has style but more than that it is comfort. It is perfectly proportioned for this look. The dark blue, high waisted leggings are so comfortable that they feel like sleep wear and they tuck easily into my OTK boots. Why does it seem my leopard bags go with everything? To me anyway. My Coco bar necklace was the prefect delicate piece of jewelry for this any day look.

How To Use Column Dressing

OUTFIT

A few years ago I learned about a style concept called column dressing. It is where you wear the same color top and pants and then build out from there. I felt it was a brilliant idea and I use it often. My favorite is the black column. In this outfit I have a pair of comfy high wasted black jeans and an asymmetrical long sleeved tee with a V neck. You will see in the following pictures how versatile this base is by switching out jewelry, bags, shoes and by adding a third piece (another style concept that I will talk about in a future post).  I used things like pulling the neckline down to a cold shoulder, big statement necklaces, adding cardigans and wearing different shoes. I could have probably put together 50 different outfits and of course loved every minute of doing it!

Skin Care

anudu 7.JPG

MY SKIN CARE HISTORY

Part of total fitness is taking care of your skin. My story is probably like so many others' stories. Not until I was in my early 30s did I use sunscreen and then only a low SPF on my face, completely skipping my neck and chest. You can see the difference too. My neck and chest are pretty damaged. But at least I was consistent and I wasn't one to sun tan much so I never burned. I did for a few years go to tanning beds in the spring to get a start on a tan. So regret that.

As far as cleansing and skin care maintenance I wore very little make up until just a few years ago. With raising children, working full time and doing all I had to do, make up wasn't high on my list of priorities. I wore a little blush, eye liner and mascara and that was it. I rarely washed it off when I went to bed. Bad huh? But it's the truth.

FullSizeRender.jpg

I have almost always used Olay cleanser and moisturizer and that is it. Once in a while I would try something else but I wasn't in to spending a lot of money on things like that. This summer though Nudu Natural Beauty sent me a selection of their products and I was delighted to try them out. They are not compensating me if you buy anything, they just wanted me to share if I liked the products.

I have went through full bottles now of the cleanser, astringent, and moisturizer and well as eye cream. I love the way the products smell and I love knowing they are all natural because as I get older I am more conscious of what I put in and on my body. A few weeks ago they sent me a bottle of their renewal cream and I used almost all of it before sharing my thoughts in this post. My thoughts are, this is a lovely product and I will continue to use the line. It is fresh, simple and just my style. Not too fussy but pleasant and kind to my skin.

My advice to everyone, is don't wait until you are my age to start taking care of your skin. You are worth being kind to yourself and so am I!

anudu 12.JPG

That's it for this week!

Peace!

Soft Surroundings Review

THE OUTFIT

This outfit c/o Soft Surroundings is part of their "Timeless and Traditional" fall collection. I am always looking for stylish looks and this outfit provided me the ultimate fall transition look!

I'll start with this Serengeti Necklace here. It has three hand-carved plates of naturally shed water buffalo horn with all of their natural color variations of caramel, black and cloudy white. They are strung on a supple, suede cord and have glimmering golden and jade insets on each piece of horn, further enhancing the exotic look. I have worn this necklace with so many things already. There is no end to the possibilities for using this necklace to elevate a look.

This Berkley Top here comes in several beautiful colors. I choose the color Brick desiring a real fall vibe. It has lovely bell sleeves and gently drapes the body. It is chic and comfortable.

My 5 Pocket Pull On Leggings here are so comfortable and come in several colors also. I thought the white would contrast nicely with the top and was right. I love the look. I wish I had these pants in every color!

These Vince Camuto, Calley booties here are going to be on repeat this fall as they go with anything and everything! The detail and comfort are amazing.  I was most excited by the neutral color that is so fashionable this season.

Note: I sized down in the pants and wish I has sized up in the top. The booties were true to size. The necklace is adjustable for many lengths depending on your outfit and preference.

This necklace c/o Soft Surroundings was the base for building today's outfit. It is part of their "Timeless and Traditional" fall collection and called the Serengeti Necklace, see here. It has three hand-carved plates of naturally shed water buffalo horn - with all of their natural color variations of caramel, black and cloudy white. They are strung on a supple, suede cord with glimmering golden and jade insets on each piece of horn, further enhancing its exotic look. I have worn this necklace with so many things already. There is no end to the possibilities for using this beautiful necklace to elevate a look. I'll have more to show you from Soft Surroundings on Wednesday so stay tuned!

To go with this necklace I chose a bold blue top with bell sleeves and full style. I wore my 12 year old flared jeans and a pair of neutral mules. I thought my leopard clutch would be the perfect accessory.
