How I Wear Off Shoulder & My Makeup

I love off should tops, on other people but for me I am always a little uncomfortable. I feel like they are falling off. So I came up with and idea to wear a camisole underneath. I think the delicate straps look nice with the off shoulder and I feel more secure. With this Free People sweater I wore a longer cami to give a layered look and I liked how it turned out. I wore boot cut jeans from White House Black Market and Chinese Laundry booties found at Ross. I added a long necklace for jewelry.

I decided this week that I needed to update my makeup. On most days I don't wear makeup as you have probably noticed in some of my posts. I have never worn much even when I was younger. I would put on a light SPF moisturizer, mascara and a touch of bronzer and that would be it most days. As I get older I am more interested in playing around with make up and I found the best video on You Tube to help me update how I apply to my older skin. I watched the video and adjusted a little to meet my needs and love the results. It's still not a lot of makeup but it sure makes a difference. Also, it is not an everyday thing.

The You Tube video I watched is by a blogger who has a blog called Hot And Flashy. She is around my age and really helpful! The link is here and is called Everyday Makeup For The Mature Woman. She has many videos and I am working my way through them. I really respect her approach and style.

I didn't go out and buy all the things she used, I have my own preferences but I did go to Ulta and have the staff help me update my foundation and primer. Really quickly I will share what I do when I wear makeup.

I use Rosehip Oil for eye make up removal. It is 100% pure, organic and very good for my skin. I put it on and let it set a few seconds and then remove my eye makeup.

I use Olay refreshing citrus scub cleanser to wash my face. Just once a day when I wash off my make up at night.

At night I moisturize with Olay Regenerist  Micro Sculpting cream.

In the morning I rinse my face and use a wash cloth to wipe away any regeneration that took place over night and then I use Lancome Renergie Lift Multi Action, lifting and firming moisturizer. This is a new product Ulta recommended and so far I really like it. With all these products a tiny bit goes a long long way. So it lasts a long time.

After I moisturize I apply a tiny bit of Lancome La Base Pro Hydra glow primer. Mostly around the center of my face where there are more lines. This stuff really makes a difference in how your foundation applies and how long it lasts and stays looking nice.

Next making sure to use a foundation brush (Lancome 2,) is what I have, but you can get them everywhere, even in drug stores for very reasonable prices. I apply a tiny bit of Lancome Renergie Lift Makeup with SPF 20. It is lifting, anti-wrinkle for normal to dry skin. (310 C30 C). Ulta matched my color and it is perfect. Basically it is my exact skin color.

I have never plucked or waxed my eye brows ever. They are blonde and not very noticeable so I don't bother. I am not big on trying to make them stand out like is the fashion now. I think working with what you have is best. It's what makes you unique. I do use Revlon Brow Fantasy to comb them in place and give a tiny touch of color.

For my eyes on most days I line them with a black liner. My favorite is L'oreal Volumnous Smoldering Eyeliner. But after watching the video by Hot and Flashy I thought I would try a silver liner so I bought Covergirl 215 Grey Khaki eye pencil to try.  Then I put on a couple of coats of mascara. I try all sorts of them and don't really have a favorite. Right now I am using Revlon Volume+Length Magnified and like it a lot. Always black for color because my lashes are very blond. I am not interested in making my lashes way longer and bigger than they are, like is the fashion. I like them natural. To be honest I don't see the point in trying to make them stand out like spiders on my eyes.

For color on my face, I have used for a few years now and love, Naked Urban Decay Flushed. The compact has a bronzer, highlighter and blush and they are wonderful.

On my lips I almost always use L'oreal. It is in a gold tube and my color is 580 Peony Pink. I recently got a nude color in that brand that is fun, 805 Golden Splendor. Sometimes I use a lip linger but really don't see much benefit.

That's it. I don't know if it makes me look better but it is fun to play with makeup and the more I work with it, the better I get at application and understanding. I am now playing with eye shadow since I watched that video. I am trying a no make, make up look using L'oreal Color Riche in 201 and 200. They are very neutral and similar to what she used in the video.

I am by no means even close to expert on makeup or application, I have just had a few people ask me questions and thought it would be fun to share. Also, I try new things often. I am always up for trying new things and change.
